Ethiopia to Abolish Trade Barriers With Somalia

Addis Ababa, Jun 18 Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, said today they will abolish trade barriers with neighboring Somalia as part of an effort to create a single market in the region.

Abiy made these statements during a press conference in the capital where the main results of his visit to Mogadishu this weekend were discussed.

During his stay there, he held talks with the Somali President, Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, with the intention of strengthening agreements on business, security, peace efforts and integration.

In the future we will create a fluid exchange in our region, based on a constant stimulus to production, innovation and private enterprise,’ the Ethiopian leader pointed out.

Ethiopia, landlocked and Africa’s second most populated nation and its fastest growing economy, plans to invest in four Somali ports and roadways which would link the two countries, according to reports. Source:Prensa Latina
