MOGADISHU: The Somali Football Federation has denied that president Abdiqani Said Arab’s recent visit to FIFA in Zurich was connected with allegations about missing funds for the women’s game.
A statement said: “The president has recently travelled to Zurich where he attended the meeting of the FIFA organizing committee for competitions.
“The sole objective for his travel to FIFA was to attend that meeting as he is member of the committee and it is unfortunate that a local radio published a false report.”
Dalson Radio had reported about concerns expressed by Shaima Mohamed, the head of women’s football, that FIFA should take action.
Last month Mohamed stated she had been forced to flee Mogadishu because she believed her life to be in danger.
