SNA repels Al-Shabaab attack on Bulo Marer town


Mogadishu (RBB NEWS) –  The Somali military has repulsed an  Al-Shabaab attack on SNA bases in the Lower Shabelle region. “Military officials told Hiiraan Online that the militants raided SNA bases in Bulo Marer town on Wednesday night, leading to a fierce gun battle that lasted for hours.

The SNA forces managed to repulse the attackers.

According to officials, the fighting caused casualties on both sides.

Latest reports from Bulo Marer town indicate that Somali forces backed troops from the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) conducted security operations to secure the area.

The local residents in the town confirmed the clashes between Somali forces and Al-Shabaab fighters.

On its affiliate online media, Al-Shabaab claimed to have killed several SNA soldiers during Bulo Marer attack.

The attack comes barely two days after Al-Shabaab militants stormed Bal’ad town, 30km north of Mogadishu prompting heavy fighting.

The group reportedly managed to capture parts of the town before pulling out of it.
